I know everyone is dreading all of the terrible "New Year, New Me" quotes and people ranting about how they are going to do things so differently in the upcoming year (like they do every year). I have been surprised by the amount of people who are capable of saying that 2016 was the worst year of their lives. It's not even a few people, it's literally EVERYONE. I've seen skits made about all of the awful things that happened this year. I do agree that there have been some crazy and strange incidents that occurred in the world. In turn, I feel that people are becoming more aware of not only what's going on at home, but all around them and are looking to seek change. The empowering part is that the ones making the changes have been young adults. This makes me so proud and truly gives me hope for our future. I really wish that people would not feed off of everyone's negative opinions and realize the growth that our society has experience over the year.
I am going into 2017 with a heavy heart for many reasons, I refuse to allow the recent events that have occurred in the last two months alter how great I believe this year was for me. I learned SO much about myself and others. I set so many goals for myself and actually ACHIEVED those goals. No, I still do not have abs and if anything I did put on a little weight. But, it doesn't bother me, I am now proud of my body and who I am on the inside. This year has been filled with so many experiences, love, and FUN. I went into 2016 ready to conquer the world and made major steps to do so.
So what did I accomplish you ask?
1. I may not have picked up a gym routine, but my diet is pretty healthy. I cut out so much toxic food and really took the time to learn what I was putting into my body.
2. I gained an internship.
3. I traveled out of the country. It was my second time on a plane and I had to do it all alone.
4. I learned how to love someone unconditionally.
5. I learned how to trust, how to be open, and honest.
6. There was a lot of self love
7. Switched Jobs.
8. My communication skills have developed tremendously.
9. I did a lot of things that made ME happy.
10. Changed how often and frequently that I talk to my family.
11. Developed a positive mindset and stopped throwing pitty parties for myself.
12. I stopped talking about what I wanted to do and took action.
13. LEARNED THE IMPORTANCE OF SAVING MONEY.
14. I stopped drinking. (this is a big deal)
These are just a few things that I am proud that I was able to accomplish over the past year. I have learned that we are truly in charge of all of or emotions and the way our lives pan out. If you are not making an effort to be better, how to expect the get better? I am SO very proud of my growth. Though my heart is heavy, I am ready to take 2017 by storm and really get the ball rolling on successfully achieving all of my goals and dreams. There is no limit as long as you believe in yourself.
